8-bit JPG and PNG are embedded losslessly — no recompression. WebP, iPhone HEIC and transparent images are flattened onto white first, since a PDF page can't be see-through.
Originals and the PDFs are deleted from the server within 10 minutes. Always.
For a standard 8-bit JPG or PNG, yes — the original is embedded byte-for-byte, no recompression. WebP, HEIC, 16-bit and transparent images get converted to PNG first (PDF can't hold those directly), which is still lossless to the pixels, just not the original file.
By default the page is sized to the image — no white margins, no letterboxing. The picture fills the page exactly.

Yes. HEIC is detected and decoded via libheif, then wrapped into the PDF. No need to convert to JPG first.
No hard cap. Each file under 25 MB. We rate-limit at five every 30 seconds, so big batches just take a beat. The tab can stay backgrounded.
